Assassin's Creed Mirage Intercept Gunnar Glasses Review: Staying Stealthy

A first look at the box containing the Assassin's Creed Mirage Intercept Glasses by Gunnar makes you curious about what's inside of it. The stylish box makes you believe you'll find some good loot as if you were in the game itself, playing in Basim's shoes. While you may not find untold riches, you'll find a pair of glasses that are much more than meets the eye, pun intended.

I was actually surprised with how Gunnar packaged the whole set because it did not feel like I was getting glasses but more of an official Assassin experience. You'll be getting a hard case with the Assassin's Creed Mirage logo with a stylish design. Inside it, you'll find the glasses with the microfiber cloth and pouch.

The indigo design of the whole frame was really great to look at, and the interior orange really made the glasses stand out. The frame's made of precision-engineered polymer material, which makes it sturdy and durable. With this, you are getting great quality glasses that should last for some time. The frame felt solid and sturdy, so I wasn't worried about breaking it when I put it to a bit of a stress test. Though I didn't put it to a breaking point, and you shouldn't either, it's definitely good enough to carry it in your pocket without worrying. One thing I had a bit of an issue with was that the size of the lens was a tiny bit bigger for me, so it felt a bit weird initially. I'll admit I looked good in the mirror wearing it, though.

Speaking of the lens, I got the one with the amber tint, which is the only one if you're getting the non-prescription ones. As with all glasses with this tint, you'll get a golden-ish filter to your life, and with this one, it doesn't feel that overpowering to your eyesight once you wear it for the first time. The lens has a coating that is anti-reflective and smudge-resistant. It is also oleophobic, which means oil and similar substances like dust will not stick to it. This is especially great if your room accumulates dust quickly like mine.

With Gunnar's patented lens technology, you'll be getting guaranteed protection from blue light and UV rays. This is especially useful if you want to game during the late nights after a long day of study or work. I sat down to play a bit of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey while wearing these around 1 AM. This scenario would've been normal when I was younger, but now it definitely takes a toll on my eyes. I guarantee I wouldn't have lasted more than 20-ish minutes at that time. But these Intercept glasses helped me play till 4 AM, and I still didn't feel tired that much. It actually blocks blue light from the screen to keep you awake, which was amazing to notice.

The price of these Intercept glasses is the only thing that's less attractive to me. The non-prescription glasses are $84.99, while the prescription ones are at $234.99. These are great glasses, but if you're on a budget, I would advise not buying them. But, if you're looking to go for one of the best-looking blue light glasses on the market and you're an Assassin's Creed fan, I'd highly recommend these.

These official Assasin's Creed glasses by Gunnar are works of art, and I'm not exaggerating. The whole set feels like a pièce de résistance. The price is a bit of a turn-off, but as mentioned before, if you're looking for one of the best, this is a must-buy. It's stylish, cool and comfortable. Plus, the box you get with it makes a great showpiece and can start conversations when you have people around.
